CorkSol were approached by Together Housing, providers of social housing, with a portfolio of over 37,000 properties. Some of these are hard to treat properties, requiring sustainable solutions to solve a range of problems whilst working towards their Net Zero targets.
The property at Bath Road was an old, draughty property with no insulation. Cold spots were identified in the eves roof and external walls. This made the house cold and very energy inefficient, costing the tenants as they continually had to heat the rooms.
The solution, as identified by CorkSol, was to spray the external walls and ceilings with the industry leading sprayed cork coating, SprayCork. Once the walls and ceilings had been sprayed, a plaster skim was applied to allow the rooms to be decorated to choice.
Patrick Berry, Director of Together Net Zero at Together Housing said, “We needed a solution that would improve the energy efficiency of this property. Energy efficiency is important to us as it allows us to provide affordable and comfortable housing for our tenants, and homes that aren’t can also have other issues, like being susceptible to damp and mould which affects the health and wellbeing of our tenants. CorkSol were able to provide to provide this solution for us, and we look forward to working with them on other hard to treat homes.”.
